It’s been one heckuva winter so far, hasn’t it?

Thank you for standing with us through the worst of it, and understanding that weather conditions have hindered us in “making our rounds” during the past month. Let us all hope that the worst is behind us.

The second topic we must address here is an unhappy one, but economic necessity demands that we do.

We’ve all watched the cost of fuel oil for our homes and gasoline for our cars move steadily upward during the past several months to heights unseen for years. Moreover, those prices are certain to go higher as domestic production is halted and unrest overseas impacts the oil markets.

Our drivers are spending 50% more to fill their tanks each morning than they were a year ago, and that excise will rise in the coming months.

Consequently, we want to inform you that we will be instituting a new fuel surcharge in the coming weeks. We have not yet determined how much it might be, and are in consultations with both our internal working groups, and other quality New York black car services to determine the parameters of the surcharge.

Do know that, as in the past, EVERY PENNY of any surcharge instituted WILL GO TO OUR DRIVERS. It is SOLELY to defray their out-of-pocket cost that this action is being undertaken. The Corporation will retain not one cent of this charge.

Do know that this is a temporary measure dictated by the recent rise in gasoline prices. We hope to maintain this for the shortest time possible, and, as in the past, will remove it as quickly as conditions permit.
